TYPES OF COMMUNICATION CHANNELS IN NETWORKING :-


Twisted pair cable :-


-> Twisting the copper wire reduces the signal emission . two insulated copper wire are twisted at Constance intervals across the length to from a twisted pair . a single twisted pair cable has multiple twisted pairs housed inside a common jacket. The most common type of connector used with Twisted pair cable is the RJ45 connector.

Unshielded twisted pair (UTP) :-


-> The UTP cable has a set of twisted pair with  a simple plastic encasement   . it is cheaper and easy to install . but it does not supported very high speed (Max. 100MB/S ) . and it is easily effected by EMI (Electromagnetic interference) . there are some category of UTP cables :-
CAT5,CAT5e,CAT6 etc.

  

Shielded twisted pair (STP) :-

->  STP cables is an insulated cable with the pair of wires  warped in a foil . it is reduce the EMI (Electromagnetic interference )  more than UTP cable and it support higher speed . also  STP cable more  costly than UTP cable .

-> Co-axial cable has two conductor with one inside the other. the inner conductor  is a either a solid copper wire or stands of copper. It is covered by an insulating plastic cover.  The plastic cover surrounded by the outer conductor, which is usually a wire mash tube. It acts as an EMI shield and insulating shield. All of PVC covers the enter cable. The co-axial cable support very high speed , and highly reduce the EMI (Electromagnetic interference ).  the Bayone-Neill-Concelman (BNC) connector used in coaxial cables. co-axial cable is expensive.

Common types of  Co-Axial cable standers are :- 

RG8(10 bass 5)                                                        thick Ethernet -50 ohm.
RG58(10 bass 2 )                                                     thin Ethernet -50 ohm.
RG59                                                                           cable tv -75 ohm.
RG62                                                                           ARC net -93 ohm.

-> Fiber-optic cable transmits the light pulses over a glass or plastic conductor. Is consisted of a glass or plastic core, which carries light pluses .  it is surrounded by the layer of reflective glass is called cladding .  a plastic spacer layer cover the cladding. It is surrounded by a proactive layer of fibers. The enter cable is protected by a tough outer sheets. Fiber –optic cable supports up to 2GB/S data rate. It is highly reduce the EMI (Electromagnetic interference) also very costly . and complex to manufacture and install .

Wireless Transmission   :-

-> Wireless Media transmit electromagnetic signal without any electrical and optical conductor . name of different type of wireless media i) radio wave ii) microwave iii) Infrared (IR) light.
